It all started with a love story....
Back at the start of 2023 two wedding photographers, planning their own big day, reached out to me with an idea I’d never even imagined. They loved my illustration style and asked,
“Would you come to our wedding… and sketch our guests live, as it’s happening?”
It felt like such a beautiful full-circle moment — two people who capture love stories for a living, inviting me to capture theirs in a completely different way.
That day, I discovered how magical it is to turn a wedding day into art — real, imperfect, joy-filled sketches that remind guests of an amazing day for forever.
What began with their love story has become mine too — a love story with live illustration, people, and the beauty of a moment you can never quite repeat.​

The Process
Before the Wedding
Planning & Consultation
We’ll have a consultation call where I can chat with you about all the finer details and work out how I can best fit into your plans for the day. We’ll go over your timeline, key moments, and any special requests so everything runs smoothly. I’ll ask you to fill out a booking form and send deposit.
Final Prep
Two weeks before your wedding, I’ll need a list of guest names or groupings you’d like illustrated. This ensures I know exactly who to focus on throughout the day. The remaining balance for your booking will also be due at this time (unless you’re paying in instalments).

On the Day
I’ll mingle with your guests, explaining the process and taking photos of each group. Throughout the day, I’ll sit and paint from these photos while guests pop by to watch and chat—it’s always a great talking point and adds a fun, artistic element to your celebration!

After the Wedding
If I don’t finish all the portraits on the day, I’ll complete them in my studio using the photos taken.
Once done, I’ll send them back to you so you can gift them as Thank You favours giving guests a special keepsake from your day. I’ve found this method works best to keep the illustrations safe and pristine no spills, smudges, or forgotten artwork as the night goes on!
How does it work on the day?
I will set up at the location of your choice within the wedding venue. Depending on your package and how you would like to run your day, I can either work from a list of guests or groups provided by you or your guests can choose to visit me throughout the wedding day.
I can paint individuals, couples or groups.
Each illustration can take between 5-20 minutes depending on how many people are featured. I will take photographs of your guests and work from these to create the portraits. I will work throughout the day including wedding breakfast and speeches, etc. Guests can come and go throughout the day watching their paintings come to life. At the end of the day I will take all the illustrations home with me so I can do any finishing touches or finalisations. I will then post these back out to you so you can then send them out to your guests as wedding favours.

I offer three set packages for live wedding illustration, with each illustration representing a household
(a couple, a single guest, or a small group).
I’m always happy to create a custom quote to suit your needs and budget!

Bronze – £350
3 hours of live illustration
Illustrating groups from the main wedding party
10-15 illustrations, covering up to 35 guests
Includes studio editing after the event

Silver – £650
Up to 6 hours of live guest portraits
25-30 illustrations, covering around 60-80 guests Includes studio editing
Gold – £875
Up to 8 hours of live guest portraits
30-50 illustrations, covering around 80-100+ guests (depending on groupings)
Includes studio editing
Plus a detailed bride & groom or venue illustration post-event
An 8-hour package typically covers between 30-80 guests, depending on how groups are illustrated.

FAQ's
How many guests can you cover?
It depends on the package and hours booked. For example:
•Bronze – 10-15 illustrations, up to 35 guests
• Silver – 25-30 illustrations, 60-80 guests
•Gold – 30-50 illustrations, 80-100+ guests

Do guests take their portraits home on the day?
I recommend sending them after the wedding. It ensures the artwork stays safe and pristine, and your guests get a lovely post-wedding surprise in the post! Although I recommend this I have previously worked it so guests can take them on the day.
Can you do a bride & groom or venue portrait?
Yes! I can include a detailed portrait of the bride and groom, this would feature a background. I can also illustrate your wedding venue as part of your package.
Can you do extra illustrations after our big day ?
If you would like extra illustrations done after your wedding from photographs taken on the day, I’m happy to do this as an add on.
What materials do you use?
I use high-quality, artist-grade watercolours, fine liners, pencils and paper to ensure every portrait is a lasting keepsake.
How do I book?
Just reach out to check availability! Once you’re ready, a £150 deposit secures your Bronze package, or £200 for Silver and Gold packages.

Lauren Young is an Illustrator based in the North East and Cumbria. Lauren graduated University in 2019 with a 1st class honours degree in Illustration and Design. She has been professionally illustrating for over 6 years, working prominently with watercolour and pencil she creates vibrant and memorable art.
